Asian American Studies and Pacific Islander Courses

Asian American Studies and other cultural relevant courses provide opportunities for students to examine Asian American history, experiences, and impact in our society. Asian American Studies increases student achievement by affirming Asian American experiences in academia, social movements, and historical events. APARC and the Asian American Studies Program are working together to develop new courses, as well as, supporting student success through a variety of collaborative activities, events, and engagement opportunities.

Pacific Islander and Indigenous courses affirm the history, cultures, and experiences of indigenous nations of the Pacific Islands and in the US.  In addition, Pacific Islander courses explore Pacific Islander identity through the intersectionality of indigeneity, race, colonialism, immigration, and other factors.  Pacific Islander courses are offered through the departments of American Indian Studies and Chicano and Latino Studies.
