Reclaiming Asian American Stories: May We Not Be Invisible to Ourselves and Each Other
Our stories are powerful and will transform the world. This storytelling project will (re)claim and center our own experiences as Asian Americans in dominant narratives. The workshop series, led by poet, writer, and educator 신 선 영 Sun Yung Shin, will explore themes such as grief, history, love, and the supernatural in the context of Asian American poetry, and will nurture an environment where we can feel empowered to create and share our stories. The series will culminate in a storytelling and performance showcase on April 15, where students will share their work, expressions, and narratives with the UMN community.
